Neil R. Patel, MD

Neil Patel, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor, Neurology and Epilepsy at Montefiore Einstein. As an epilepsy neurologist, Dr. Patel focuses on the treatment and management of seizures and epilepsy, as well as electroencephalogram (EEG) interpretation.

A graduate of Rutgers University, Dr. Patel completed his Bachelor of Science in genetics in 2013 and his Doctor of Medicine in 2018. He then came to Montefiore Einstein, where he completed his internal medicine internship in 2019, his adult neurology residency in 2022 and his epilepsy fellowship in 2023.

Building on his clinical focus, Dr. Patel's research interests include working with driving simulators to assess epilepsy patients' ability to safely use vehicles. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals, abstracts and case reports.

Dr. Patel is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). In 2022, he won the Leo M. Davidoff Society Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students.
